Chapter 1 - The Invitation
The boy called Janus walked to school on another normal boring day. Janus was a boy with black short hair and emerald green eyes his skin was a bit pale. Today he was wearing his blue hoodie and dark green sweat pants and he was wearing his red and blue running shoes because there was a sports lesson today. Janus is in 7th grade he is 12 and a half, his birthday is on the 26th of March.
But let's get back to the story. Janus was walking to his locker to get his stuff for the days History lesson. Then he started walking toward class wondering what Mr. Parks would teach today. When he walked into class he saw that Mr. Parks wasn’t around and instead there was a substitute teacher: a very old man who had a long white beard that reached to his waist. His hair was just as long and he definitely resembled Merlin. Janus saw that on the whiteboard a name was written in big letters: Mr. ADAMS. Then MR. Adams said go to your seat now I'm about to read the register" Janus answered yes sir. When Janus sat in his place his best friend Leonard who everyone calls leo says: well about time you got here what prank do you want to do on today's sub. Janus answers I don’t think we can prank this guy he seems like a merlin or yoda. Well students MR. Adams say's today we are going to learn about how nations before us thought of magic.
Janus could have sweared that MR. Adams looked at him when he said Magic.
A few days later on Friday after school…
Zoe was worried, she wasn’t sure how she'd do the assignment that Master Sebastien had given her. She had to convince some boy called Janus to come over to Master Sebastien's home, she was pretty sure that Janus was in her class, in fact she was sure of it. So she checked on a computer at school where Janus lives so now she was walking to his house trying to decide how she would invite him to come to her house.
Zoe is a girl whose height is a few Centimeters above average( shes 1.63 metres tall(now)) she has raven black hair and emerald green eyes she is a sporty girl, enjoys sports and also enjoys reading old books, and loves the secret lessons with Master Sebastien

Janus and Leo were hanging out in the street in front of Janus's house talking about their day. Leo say's you really think that Mr. Adams stared at you? Janus answers yeah im sure of it well that’s a bit weird don’t you thinks says Leo Definitely answers Janus, and remember how taught us about lots of magicians from all those ancient empires. and Leo says hey look its Zoe from class do you even know where she lives and than Zoe gets even closer and, Zoe say's "hello, Its Janus right"? Janus answers yep I'm Janus, do you want something? Zoe say's well I was wondering if you could come over to my place. Janus exchanges astonished glances with Leo. Then say's "can Leo come to he is my best friend" well I guess he can she answers. Ill go check with my parents Janus say's then runs inside and shouts mum dad can I go to Zoe's place sure they shout back but be back at 7:00. When Janus comes out he says I can come great answers Zoe lets go it's that way she points to the mountains.
"Whoa!" say's Janus "nice place you have here", yeah Leo says "that’s one heck of a mansion" "welcome to our home" Zoe say's. Our home? Asks Janus yes mine and mast I mean mine and Sebastien's. Who's Sebastien? Asks Leo "don’t worry you will meet him soon" answers Zoe. Zoe knocks on the door "come in" someone say's Zoe opens the door, come to the living room the voice say's. When they walk down a hall then Zoe opens a door and they walk into the living room, Janus suddenly says MR Adams? Adams say's call me Sebastien MR. Adams is just an alibi. Why did you need an alibi? Asks Leo. Well Sebastien answers I couldn’t tell the principal I wanted to come to school only because I was looking for kids who have potential. Potential for what? Janus asks. Well answers Sebastien potential in learning the art of the grimoire also known as Magic!" Magic? No way" says Leo I don’t believe you. Zoe show him say's Sebastien yes master she answers. Janus, Leo watch this! She holds out her arm and a green orb of light appears in her hand. "So maybe that’s only a trick with the light" says Leo. oh yeah? Says Zoe what about this? And she throws the ball on Leo oww! That hurt Leo says then continues OK I guess you are right magic exists. Why do you care if one of us kids has potential in magic? Asks Janus I need a another apprentice with lots of potential Sebastien tells him. So does that mean we are those people? Asks Leo yes you are replies Sebastien does that mean you will teach us magic?! Asks Janus "yes I shall if you want to learn that is" Sebastien replies. Im in says Leo straight away well don’t you want to Janus? I mean it's like Magic wich is soooo cool. Janus answers I don’t think so you want something more from us right? Sebastien says yes I want you to eventually help defend this world from those tha wish it harm, it still sounds cool says Leo. Ok then I want your answer by Monday come here at 5:00 PM Sebastien tells them. Ok we will come then Janus says see you later bye Leo says. And they leave the house and while they are walking down the road. Well Janus I hope you change your mind by then, bye, says Leo. Janus thinks: ill decide while I'm far away from all this craziness down at Karamea at the beach I can't wait till I get home and we go. But still this magic thing is cool.
Ok now that I have some time and nothing is happening let me tell you about Janus and Leo(im not going to say how Leo looks I want you to think of that not me) they met when they were 4 in New Zealand in Odea a town upriver from karamea in the north west of the south island. Janus is older than Leo by a 1/4 of a year and ever since they met in nursery they've been great friends. Janus always was the the one who stopped and thought before doing something while Leo always just ran into stuff. Once Leo was dared to put needles on the teachers chair and Janus tried to talk him out of it but Leo wouldn’t listen, he thought it would be very funny, so he got detention for a month. Well that’s enough see you back in the story.
